What this 144-pin LQFP holds — 180 MHz Cortex-M4 with 1 MB Flash
The STM32F429ZGT6TR is STMicroelectronics' high-end STM32F4 series MCU built around an ARM Cortex-M4 core clocked at 180 MHz. The 144-LQFP package (20x20 mm) is a hand-solderable, inspectable footprint — no hot-air station required for a field swap, and the pin pitch is wide enough to check with a loupe.
Peripheral set — Ethernet, LCD, CAN, USB OTG on one chip
That means a single MCU can drive a TFT display, talk to a plant network over Ethernet or CAN, and handle a USB host connection — no external bridge chips. The 114 GPIOs give enough headroom for a parallel LCD data bus plus a sensor array.
No need to hunt for surplus or worry about a looming EOL notice on the next build.
The internal oscillator means you can boot without an external crystal for basic operation.
Data converters and analog
Twenty-four 12-bit ADC channels and two 12-bit DACs are on-chip. For a motor-drive or sensor-fusion application, that is enough analog front-end to sample current shunts and voltage references without an external ADC.
