180 MHz Cortex-M4 with FPU — what the speed rating buys you
The 180 MHz core with hardware FPU and DSP instructions handles FFTs, motor-control loops, and audio processing without a separate DSP. The 168 I/O lines and the flexible memory controller (EBI/EMI) let you attach SDRAM, NOR/NAND Flash, or a parallel display without multiplexing — the LCD controller drives up to XGA resolution directly from the internal SRAM or external memory. Brown-out detect and POR are integrated, so external supervisor ICs are optional for cost-sensitive boards.
The tape-and-reel delivery (the "TR" suffix) is the standard for automated pick-and-place; the bare die is not available, so hybrid or chip-on-board designs need the packaged device.
