100 MHz Cortex-M4 with 1.5 MB Flash — the density tier that matters
The 100-LQFP package gives 81 usable I/O, enough for a parallel LCD interface, QSPI NOR Flash, and a CANbus transceiver without multiplexing.
At the 3.3 V end, the 100 MHz PLL draws the full dynamic current — plan the 3.3 V rail for at least 50 mA headroom above the MCU's own consumption when all peripherals are clocked.
ST lists the STM32F423VHT6 as Active product status. The ROHS3 compliance is current. For production planning, the part is available through franchised distribution and the independent channel; any allocation risk today is driven by the overall STM32 supply picture, not by an imminent end-of-life.
Connectivity and analog — what the 100-LQFP footprint buys you
The peripheral set includes CANbus, USB OTG, QSPI, SAI audio, and an EBI/EMI interface for external memory or FPGA glue. The internal oscillator is rated for operation, but for CAN or USB with tight bit-timing, an external crystal is the safer choice — the internal RC drifts enough across temperature to risk frame errors at 1 Mbps.
