The STM32F405RGT6 is an STMicroelectronics 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller from the STM32F4 series, built as a high-performance foundation line device. Typical applications include motor drives, industrial control, consumer electronics, and communications infrastructure where the Cortex-M4 DSP extensions and FPU accelerate real-time signal processing.
The 168 MHz core clock is the headline rating that separates this part from the STM32F1 and STM32L1 value lines. With a single-cycle multiply and hardware divide, plus single-precision floating-point unit, the STM32F405RGT6 can run field-oriented control (FOC) on a pair of motors, execute audio codec filters, or handle a USB OTG host stack without a dedicated coprocessor. The 192 KB SRAM is sized for a real-time operating system with several active tasks and a moderate frame buffer; the 1 MB Flash can hold a full application including bootloader, communication stacks, and a small filesystem.
