The 72 MHz clock on the Cortex-M4 core provides the arithmetic throughput for sensor fusion, motor field-oriented control, and digital power loops.
9x12-bit ADC and 1x12-bit DAC — analog front-end on the die
The STM32F3 series differentiates itself from the STM32L1 family by the density of analog peripherals. Nine 12-bit ADC channels let the part read multiple current-sense resistors, voltage taps, and temperature sensors without external muxing. The single 12-bit DAC can output a setpoint or analog reference directly.
It is not nearing end-of-life and no last-time-buy notification has been issued. For a production BOM, this means no urgency to qualify a replacement or stockpile inventory.
48-LQFP footprint — land pattern and routing notes
The 48-LQFP package with a 7x7 mm body uses a 0.5 mm pitch. The exposed pad is not present on this LQFP variant, so thermal dissipation relies on the leadframe and board copper. Decoupling should follow the STM32F3 reference design: one 100 nF ceramic per VDD pair plus a 4.7 µF bulk on the main rail.
