The 72 MHz ARM Cortex-M3 core places this part in the mid-performance tier of the STM32F1 family — fast enough for motor control loops, USB packet handling, and CAN message processing without needing a higher-cost M4 or M7 part. The 256 KB Flash is sufficient for moderate application code, a real-time OS kernel, and communication stacks; the 48 KB SRAM gives room for several packet buffers and a modest heap. If your firmware image is pushing past 200 KB or you need double-precision floating-point, you are looking at the wrong density tier.
