100-ball BGA — board area and routing
Housed in a 100-LFBGA package (10x10 mm body), this MCU saves board area compared to an LQFP-100, but the BGA footprint demands a four-layer PCB minimum for fanout and decoupling. The 0.8 mm ball pitch is manageable with standard assembly lines; no micro-via needed. Supply range is 2.0 V to 3.6 V on Vdd, so a single 3.3 V rail works. Keep the decoupling caps within 5 mm of the BGA perimeter — the inner balls are power and ground, so via-in-pad or dogbone fanout to a ground plane keeps the PDN impedance low.
The STM32F1 series is a mature, volume-production line with broad distributor stocking, so supply risk for a production BOM is low. ROHS3 compliant.
