Core specs and what they mean for your BOM
The STM32F100VDT6B is an ARM Cortex-M3 MCU clocked at 24 MHz — this sets the throughput ceiling for control loops, sensor polling, and communication handling. For a typical PID loop or Modbus RTU slave, the 24 MHz core leaves enough margin to run the application code without cycle-counting. On-chip memory: 384 KB of Flash and 32 KB of SRAM. The Flash holds firmware of moderate complexity — a bootloader, RTOS kernel, and application stack fit without external memory. The 32 KB SRAM supports a few kilobytes of data buffers and a modest heap for dynamic allocation. 80 GPIOs in the 100-LQFP package give you room for a parallel LCD interface, a keypad matrix, and discrete I/O for limit switches or relay drivers — all on one chip.
Peripheral set and analog integration
