Internal oscillator means fewer external passives on the board.
Package reality: 100-UFBGA is not a field-swap part
This is a pick-and-place, reflow-only device. The board needs at least four layers to route the BGA fanout cleanly; two-layer designs will struggle with signal integrity on the USB and CAN lines. For a rework lab: MSL 3 is typical for this package class. If the bag seal is broken and the ambient humidity is above 30%, bake at 125°C for 24 hours before reflow. The 7x7 mm body is small enough that a hot-air nozzle can handle it, but alignment under the microscope is critical — the balls are hidden.
Connectivity and peripheral fit
With CAN, USB (device), and up to two SPI/I²C ports, this MCU is a natural fit for a sensor hub or a motor-drive communication node. The 12-bit ADC has 16 channels, and there are two 12-bit DACs — enough for analog feedback loops without an external converter. The DMA engine can keep the ADC samples flowing to RAM without CPU intervention, which matters when you are running a control loop at 48 MHz and cannot afford interrupt jitter.
