48 MHz Cortex-M0 with USB and CAN on a 7×7 mm QFN
The STM32F072CBU6 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 MCU from STMicroelectronics' STM32F0 value line, clocked at 48 MHz with 128 KB of Flash and 16 KB of RAM. It integrates a USB 2.0 full-speed interface and a CANbus controller, making it a direct-fit choice for compact industrial nodes, sensor hubs, and embedded communication bridges that need both serial and network connectivity without an external PHY for CAN. The 48 MHz Cortex-M0 core delivers enough throughput for control loops running at a few kilohertz and for protocol stacks like USB CDC or CANopen without saturating the bus. The 128 KB Flash holds a moderate application plus a bootloader; the 16 KB RAM handles a few hundred bytes of stack and a double-buffered USB endpoint.
Connectivity and analog integration
The peripheral set includes DMA, I²S, PWM, and a watchdog timer, plus LINbus and IrDA support alongside the USB and CAN interfaces.
