650 V, 60 A Trench Field Stop IGBT for power conversion
The STMicroelectronics STGW30M65DF2 is a 650 V, 60 A Trench Field Stop IGBT in a TO-247-3 through-hole package. It targets hard-switching topologies in motor drives, solar inverters, welding machines, and uninterruptible power supplies where conduction and switching losses must balance. Junction temperature spans -55 to 175 °C, qualifying the part for industrial and outdoor equipment where ambient extremes are routine. The co-packaged diode shows a 140 ns reverse recovery time, which influences turn-on loss and conducted EMI in the freewheeling path.
The TO-247-3 package is a standard through-hole power package with a large metal tab for heatsink mounting. The collector is electrically connected to the tab, so an insulating pad and thermal grease are required when mounting to a grounded heatsink. The three leads are suitable for PCB or chassis wiring; the gate lead is sensitive to ringing and should be kept short with a gate resistor placed close to the device.
