4000Vrms isolation and 3A peak — what this gate driver brings to the power stage
The STMicroelectronics STGAP2GSNCTR is a single-channel isolated gate driver built around capacitive coupling technology, delivering 4000Vrms galvanic isolation between the input logic and the output power stage. It sources and sinks 3A peak at the gate, with a typical rise and fall time of 30ns each, which means it can drive the gate capacitance of medium-power SiC MOSFETs and IGBTs without excessive switching loss. The propagation delay is matched at 50ns max for both edges, keeping dead-time budgets predictable. The output supply runs from 3.1V to 5.5V, so it can work with a standard 5V bias rail or a 3.3V logic supply directly.
150°C junction rating — not just industrial, but under-hood capable
If your power stage sits near a motor drive or an engine compartment, the 150°C ceiling gives headroom above the usual 125°C industrial limit.
The VDE approval listed in the specs adds a layer of confidence for safety-critical applications that require certified isolation.
