The 8 mOhm Rds(on) at 30 A, 10 V is the spec that determines conduction loss in a switching regulator or load-switch design. At 60 A continuous drain, the device is sized for a 50 A design margin in a 25°C ambient, but the 60 W power dissipation ceiling at the case means the thermal path — heatsink, PCB copper, airflow — must be sized to keep junction temperature below 175°C. The 1400 pF input capacitance at 16 V Vds gives a figure for drive stage sizing.
Through-hole I-PAK package
The STD70N02L-1 mounts in a through-hole I-PAK (TO-251AA) package with three short leads. This is a common footprint for board-level power stages where a small PCB area is needed but surface-mount reflow is not available or preferred. The short leads suit low-profile assembly on single-sided or mixed-technology boards.
