On-resistance and gate charge — the switching trade-off
The 11 mOhm Rds(on) at 20 A keeps conduction losses low in a 30 V rail — useful for load switches, low-voltage motor drives, or DC-DC converter synchronous rectification.
175 °C junction — field-repair margin
That 175 °C ceiling gives headroom in a cramped enclosure or under-hood environment where ambient can hit 105 °C and self-heating adds another 30–40 °C. The DPAK copper tab needs a good solder pad and via array to the inner-layer copper to keep the thermal resistance low.
That means STMicroelectronics has flagged it for eventual phase-out — no last-time-buy date is published in the available records, but new designs should not start with this part. Existing production can continue sourcing through independent distribution while stock lasts.
