Ratings that decide the fit
At 15 A that is about 6.75 W dissipated in the die — within the 50 W package limit at Tc=25°C, but you will need a good thermal path to the board copper. The gate threshold voltage maximum is 2.5 V at 250 µA drain current, and the drive voltage range (5 V to 10 V) means a 5 V logic-level gate signal will turn it on, though Rds(on) will be higher than the 10 V figure.
The device comes in a TO-252-3 DPAK surface-mount package (2 leads plus the tab). For a 30 A load, the trace width from the source pin and the tab solder area need to be sized for the current — standard 2 oz copper with a 5 mm wide trace per 10 A is a starting point.
