The STBP120CVDK6F: The STBP120CVDK6K is an overvoltage protection IC with integrated thermal shutdown, built to sit between an input power rail and a sensitive downstream load. Its 1.2V to 28V supply range covers common single-cell Li-ion, multi-cell battery packs, and 12V/24V industrial buses — the low end lets it protect a 1.8V or 2.5V logic rail, while the 28V ceiling handles a nominal 24V supply with margin for transients. The 170µA quiescent current is low enough to leave on continuously in a battery-powered system — it draws less than the self-discharge of a typical Li-ion cell, so you do not need a separate enable switch just to save standby power.
Package and board-fit for rework and layout
The 0.5mm pitch is fine for a standard reflow profile; a hot-air rework station with a small nozzle can swap it on a populated board if you pre-tin the pad. Surface-mount mounting (SMD) is the only option — no through-hole variant exists. The Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) packaging options let you order production reels or small quantities for prototyping without a full reel commitment.
Temperature grade and where it runs
It will sit comfortably in an outdoor telecom enclosure, a battery management system under the hood (but not directly on the engine block), or a factory-floor sensor node. No AEC-Q automotive grade is claimed, so do not spec it for a safety-critical automotive power train application without additional qualification data.
