Solar charger with built-in fault protection
The SPV1040T is a solar battery charger IC in an 8-TSSOP package. It handles a maximum supply voltage of 5.5 V and operates across a -40°C to 125°C junction temperature range, covering industrial and outdoor solar-harvesting applications where the panel sits in direct sunlight. On-chip fault protection includes over-current and over-temperature monitoring — the charger shuts down the power path if the load or ambient conditions push the die outside safe limits, protecting both the IC and the battery.
Package and board-fit — tube vs tape-and-reel
The SPV1040T ships in a Tube, surface-mount 8-TSSOP (0.173", 4.40 mm Width). If your pick-and-place line feeds from reels, the SPV1040TTR is the direct drop-in without a board spin.
The SPV1040T is ROHS3 Compliant — no RoHS exemption expiry to track for EU-market builds. STMicroelectronics is the sole manufacturer.
