What the 388 V clamp means for your downstream circuitry
The 388 V clamping voltage is the ceiling the TVS holds during a surge event. If your downstream DC-DC converter or load has an absolute maximum input below 388 V, you need additional series impedance or a higher-rated TVS. For 188 V rails (typical in three-phase industrial rectifiers or PoE++ injectors), the 209 V minimum breakdown provides a comfortable guard band against normal line ripple.
