Transient protection for 256V DC rails
The STMicroelectronics P6KE300ARL is a unidirectional Zener TVS diode from the P6KE TRANSIL™ series, packaged in a DO-15 (DO-204AC) axial leaded through-hole case. It is designed for general-purpose transient overvoltage protection, with a reverse standoff voltage of 256V and a minimum breakdown voltage of 285V. The device clamps transients to a maximum of 529V at the peak pulse current of 7.6A (8/20 µs waveform), handling 600W of peak pulse power. This is a single-channel, unidirectional part — no bidirectional option in this package variant.
The 529V clamping voltage is the peak the protected circuitry must survive without damage. With a 7.6A peak pulse current rating (8/20 µs), this part suits moderate-energy transients on 240V AC secondary-side rectified rails or 250V DC bus lines. The 290 pF capacitance at 1 MHz is typical for a TVS at this voltage — check it against signal integrity if used on a data line, though the primary application is power rail clamping.
