The 442 V maximum clamping voltage is the ceiling the protected circuit must survive — any downstream component rated below that sees overstress. The 237 V minimum breakdown ensures the device starts conducting before the rail exceeds the 213 V reverse standoff, so normal operation stays below the trigger threshold. With a peak pulse current rating of 9 A (8/20 µs), this part handles repetitive surge events typical of inductive load switching or lightning-induced transients on outdoor cabling.
For BOM planning, this removes the urgency to stockpile or qualify a substitute — though the usual lead-time variability for through-hole TVS diodes still applies.
