600 W Zener TVS in a DO-15 axial package
The STMicroelectronics P6KE15ARL is a single-channel Zener TVS diode from the P6KE / TRANSIL™ series, designed for general-purpose transient voltage suppression. It handles 600 W peak pulse power (10/1000 µs waveform) and clamps at 27.2 V maximum, with a 12.8 V reverse standoff and a 14.3 V minimum breakdown. The DO-204AC (DO-15) axial-lead through-hole package suits board-level surge protection in industrial, telecom, and power-supply applications where a robust, leaded part is preferred over surface-mount.
Voltage window and surge current
The 12.8 V standoff means the line can run at 12 V nominal without leakage issues. Breakdown starts at 14.3 V, and clamping hits 27.2 V at the peak pulse current of 147 A (8/20 µs waveform). That 27.2 V ceiling protects downstream silicon rated for 30 V or higher — a common margin rule for 12 V rails. The 1900 pF capacitance at 1 MHz is typical for a 600 W TVS in this voltage class; it adds load on signal lines but is acceptable for power and low-speed I/O.
STMicroelectronics lists the P6KE15ARL as obsolete. Buyers should qualify date code and lot traceability per their incoming inspection.
