Quad op-amp in a 14-SOIC — the BOM workhorse
The STMicroelectronics LM324AWDT is a general-purpose quad operational amplifier in a 14-SOIC surface-mount package. It integrates four independent op-amp circuits into one 3.90 mm-wide SOIC footprint, saving board space compared to four single-channel devices. The supply voltage spans 3 V to 30 V, allowing the same part to run from a 3.3 V logic rail, a 5 V ADC reference, or a 24 V industrial bus without a separate regulator.
The 1.3 MHz gain-bandwidth product sets the small-signal bandwidth at unity gain. At a closed-loop gain of 10, the usable bandwidth drops to roughly 130 kHz. The 0.4 V/µs slew rate limits the large-signal output swing: a 5 V peak-to-peak step takes about 12.5 µs to settle, capping the part to signals below roughly 12 kHz at full output swing.
This LM324AWDT variant is intended for indoor equipment, office electronics, benchtop instruments, and appliance PCBs where the ambient stays above freezing. The total supply current for all four amplifiers is 1.5 mA typical, keeping the thermal load low in the 14-SOIC package.
