Digital accelerometer for tilt and vibration sensing
The LIS3DHHTR is a three-axis digital accelerometer from STMicroelectronics, measuring acceleration on X, Y, and Z axes with a full-scale range of ±2.5g. Output is via SPI, making it a direct-fit for microcontrollers with a spare SPI port. The 16-CCLGA package (5x5 mm) suits compact PCB layouts where board space is tight. An integrated temperature sensor provides on-chip die temperature monitoring, useful for compensating offset drift in high-ambient enclosures or for system thermal logging.
Sensitivity and bandwidth trade-offs
At ±2.5g full scale, the sensitivity is 13157 LSB/g — that is roughly 0.076 mg per LSB, which resolves sub-degree tilt angles without external amplification. The programmable bandwidth from 235 Hz to 440 Hz lets you filter out mechanical noise above the vibration frequency of interest. Supply voltage spans 1.71 V to 3.6 V, so the part runs directly off a 1.71 V or 3.6 V rail without a separate LDO.
