High-g digital accelerometer for impact and vibration sensing
The H3LIS200DLTR from STMicroelectronics is a three-axis digital accelerometer that measures linear acceleration along the X, Y, and Z axes with selectable full-scale ranges of ±100g or ±200g. This high-g range makes it suitable for applications where standard ±2g to ±16g parts would saturate — such as impact detection, crash recording, or heavy-equipment vibration monitoring. The digital interface supports both I²C and SPI protocols, and the bandwidth is adjustable from 25 Hz to 500 Hz via the on-chip filter, allowing the designer to trade off noise vs response time.
Package, supply, and temperature grade
Housed in a 16-VFLGA package (3x3 mm body, 1 mm max height), the part is surface-mount ready and occupies minimal board area — a key advantage when integrating into compact sensor modules or data loggers. The device includes a sleep mode for reducing power draw when no motion is expected, and the selectable scale lets the firmware choose between higher sensitivity at ±100g (1 LSB/g) or wider dynamic range at ±200g (0.6 LSB/g).
Active lifecycle and compliance
The part is ROHS3 compliant, meaning no restricted substances are present above the threshold limits, and no RoHS exemption expiry needs to be tracked.
