60 V, 15 A dual rectifier — where the Vf and leakage matter
The STMicroelectronics FERD30H60CTS is a dual common-cathode Field Effect Rectifier Diode (FERD) array rated for 60 V reverse voltage and 15 A average rectified current per diode, housed in a TO-220-3 through-hole package. Its forward voltage is specified at 585 mV maximum at 15 A — a low Vf that keeps conduction losses down in high-current power supplies, battery chargers, and motor-drive freewheeling paths. The reverse leakage at rated voltage is 170 µA at 60 V; with a maximum junction temperature of 175°C, the part suits environments where thermal margin is tight and the diode sees continuous DC or heavy load.
Package and mounting — TO-220-3 through-hole
The TO-220-3 through-hole package (supplier device package TO-220) is a standard power outline with a metal tab for heatsink attachment. The common-cathode configuration means the two anodes are separate pins and the cathode is the tab — the board layout must account for the tab being at cathode potential (60 V), not ground. The fast recovery speed (≤500 ns, >200 mA) is adequate for line-frequency and moderate-speed switching applications, but not for high-frequency SMPS where ultrafast or SiC diodes would be specified.
