The STMicroelectronics BTA16-400BWRG is a 16 A RMS, 400 V Snubberless™ Alternistor triac in a TO-220 through-hole package. It belongs to the Snubberless™ series, which means the device is designed to commutate inductive loads (motors, solenoids, transformers) without requiring an external RC snubber network — the die itself handles the dV/dt stress during turn-off. The 50 mA maximum gate trigger current (Igt) and 1.3 V maximum gate trigger voltage (Vgt) are standard for this current class and compatible with common optocoupler or logic-level drive circuits.
