Transient suppressor for 30.8 V rails
The STMicroelectronics 1.5KE36ARL is a unidirectional Zener-based transient voltage suppressor from the 1.5KE TRANSIL™ series. It clamps surges at 64.3 V maximum while standing off 30.8 V DC continuously, making it a fit for protecting 28 V to 36 V power buses, telecom line cards, and industrial control inputs against lightning and inductive load transients. Rated for 1500 W peak pulse power at 10/1000 µs, the device handles 156 A peak pulse current under the 8/20 µs waveform. The DO-201AA axial lead package suits through-hole board mounting with a robust solder joint for high-surge applications.
Clamping voltages and surge rating
Breakdown starts at 34.2 V minimum, and clamping to 64.3 V at full rated current limits the voltage spike seen by the protected circuitry. The 1500 W peak pulse power rating applies to the standard 10/1000 µs waveform; the 156 A figure is for the 8/20 µs waveform, a common lightning-surge test condition. No power line protection rating — the part is intended for signal and low-power DC rail clamping, not AC mains input. Capacitance of 2500 pF at 1 MHz is typical for a 1.5 kW Zener TVS and should be considered for high-speed data lines where signal integrity matters.
