Five-channel isolator for multi-rail signal isolation
The Skyworks SI8652BB-B-IS1R is a five-channel, unidirectional digital isolator using capacitive coupling technology to pass 150 Mbps data across a 2500 Vrms isolation barrier. With a 3/2 input-to-output split, it handles three signals on the input side and two on the output side — typical for isolating a three-wire SPI bus plus a control line on a mixed-voltage backplane.
Timing margins and transient immunity in noisy environments
Propagation delay is 13 ns max in both directions, with pulse width distortion held to 4.5 ns max — tight enough to keep the clock-to-data skew within a single bit period at 150 Mbps. The 2.5 ns typical rise/fall time means the output edges stay sharp into a standard 15 pF load, reducing the risk of metastability in the receiving logic. Common-mode transient immunity is rated at 35 kV/µs minimum. In a motor-drive or inverter application where the ground plane bounces at several kV/µs during a switching event, this isolator holds the data state without bit errors — the capacitive coupling architecture rejects the dV/dt before it reaches the output latch. Operating temperature spans -40°C to 125°C, covering the full industrial range.
Active production — sourcing through distribution
Supplied in tape-and-reel packaging (16-SOIC, 3.90 mm width) for automated pick-and-place assembly. The 16-SOIC footprint is standard — no special pad pattern or thermal pad required, so it drops into existing SOIC-16 land patterns without a board spin.
