The Skyworks SI8261BAD-C-ISR is a single-channel digital isolator built on capacitive coupling technology, delivering 5000 Vrms galvanic isolation with a minimum common-mode transient immunity of 35 kV/µs — enough to keep the gate drive clean on a switching node that bounces several hundred volts in tens of nanoseconds.
Peak drive current and propagation delay profile
With a 4 A peak output current and a source/sink split of 500 mA (high) and 1.2 A (low), the SI8261BAD-C-ISR can drive the gate capacitance of medium-power IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs without an external booster stage — the asymmetrical sink current handles the Miller plateau discharge faster than the turn-on edge. Propagation delay is 60 ns max on the low-to-high edge and 50 ns max on the high-to-low edge, with a pulse-width distortion ceiling of 28 ns. Typical rise and fall times are 5.5 ns and 8.5 ns respectively, keeping the switching loss window tight enough for a 100-200 kHz hard-switched inverter.
