Product details

Automotive gate-drive isolator with 3750Vrms isolation

The SI8261AAC-C-IS is a single-channel gate-drive digital isolator from Skyworks Solutions, part of the Automotive AEC-Q100 qualified series. It uses capacitive coupling technology to deliver 3750Vrms isolation between input and output, making it suitable for driving power switches in automotive and industrial inverter stages. The AEC-Q100 Grade 1 qualification means it has passed the reliability stress tests required for engine-bay and transmission-control ECUs.

600mA peak drive with 35kV/µs transient immunity

Peak output current is 600mA, with high/low sourcing of 400mA and 600mA respectively. This drives the gate capacitance of medium-power IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs without an external booster stage. Common-mode transient immunity is a minimum of 35kV/µs. In a motor-drive or DC-DC converter, the switching node swings hundreds of volts in tens of nanoseconds; the isolator's internal capacitive barrier rejects that dV/dt edge so the controller side sees a clean signal. Propagation delay is 60ns (tpLH) and 50ns (tpHL) maximum, with a pulse-width distortion of 28ns max. Rise and fall times are 5.5ns and 8.5ns typical. These numbers keep the switching dead-time predictable and the output waveform edges sharp enough for 100kHz+ PWM.

Approvals include CQC, CSA, UR, and VDE.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SI8261AAC-C-IS and SI8261AAC-C-IPR?

The SI8261AAC-C-IS ships in tube packaging; the SI8261AAC-C-IPR is the same die and electrical specification in tape-and-reel packaging. Both are AEC-Q100 qualified, 3750Vrms isolation, 600mA peak output. The choice is a pick-and-place feeder preference, not a parametric difference.
