48 MHz Cortex-M23 in a 48-LQFP — what this MCU brings to the BOM
The Renesas R7FA2E1A52DFL#AA0 is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M23 single-core MCU from the RA2E1 series, clocked at 48 MHz. It carries 32 KB of Flash program memory, 16 KB of RAM, and 4 KB of EEPROM.
Memory sizing and the firmware budget
32 KB Flash is the entry-level tier for the RA2E1 family — fine for a sensor hub, a keypad controller, or a simple motor-commutation routine. If your firmware needs a full RTOS plus a TCP/IP stack, you will bump into the ceiling. The 4 KB EEPROM is a separate block, not emulated in Flash, so you can store calibration constants or fault logs without wearing the main program memory.
Peripherals and connectivity
On-chip peripherals include DMA, LVD, POR, PWM, and WDT. Serial connectivity covers I²C, SPI, and UART/USART — enough for a Modbus RTU slave, an I²C sensor bus, or a debug UART. No CAN or USB, so if you need a fieldbus gateway, look at the RA2L1 sibling with CAN.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Renesas lists the R7FA2E1A52DFL#AA0 as Active and ROHS3 compliant. No NRND or EOL notice. The RA2E1 series is current-production.
