Key ratings and what they mean for the BOM
The 400 kHz I²C clock rate is standard Fast-mode, compatible with most MCU I²C peripherals without needing a clock-stretch workaround. The 10 mA source and 25 mA sink per pin are enough to drive a standard LED directly (with a series resistor) or to pull a logic input high/low — but not enough for a relay coil without an external transistor. The POR (Power-On Reset) feature ensures all I/O channels start in a known high-impedance state, which avoids unintended actuator activation during power-up. The interrupt output saves firmware cycles: the host reads the expander only when an input changes, rather than polling the I²C bus continuously.
Package and mounting
Housed in a 24-TSSOP (4.40 mm body width), surface-mount only. Tape & Reel (TR) or Cut Tape (CT) options let you order production reels or small quantities for prototyping.
Lifecycle and compliance
Listed as Active with ROHS3 compliance. For a BOM freeze, this part carries no near-term obsolescence risk.
