I2C bus buffer at 400 kHz – what the ratings mean for your bus
The PCA9515ADP,118 is a 2-channel I2C buffer/reDriver that operates at the standard I2C Fast-mode data rate of 400 kHz. Each channel buffers one of the two I2C bus lines (SDA and SCL), isolating bus capacitance and allowing longer traces or more devices on the same bus segment without violating the 400 pF maximum load specification. The 800 µA supply current keeps the buffer in the always-on power budget for most mixed-signal boards. Input capacitance is 6 pF, which adds negligible load to the upstream master's bus.
It is ROHS3 compliant, meeting EU and global regulatory requirements for lead-free assembly.
Package and board integration
The surface-mount package suits reflow assembly; the small footprint leaves room for bypass capacitors near the supply pins.
