The TO-220AB through-hole package handles up to 166 W dissipation, but the thermal path depends on the heatsink interface — the copper tab solders directly to the board or a clip. The -55 to 175 °C junction range covers under-hood automotive and industrial environments where ambient temperatures push 125 °C.
Switching and drive considerations
The input capacitance is 4230 pF typical at 25 V drain-source. That is moderate for a 75 A device — the gate driver needs to source and sink enough peak current to hit the target switching frequency without excessive crossover loss. The ±10 V gate-source maximum limits the drive voltage; a 10 V gate drive is the standard choice for minimum Rds(on). The 2 V maximum gate threshold at 1 mA drain current means the device is fully enhanced with logic-level gate drives above 5 V, but the 10 mOhm Rds(on) spec is guaranteed at 10 V only. For lower gate voltages the on-resistance rises — check the typical curve in the datasheet if the gate drive is 5 V.
