Automotive-grade N-channel MOSFET in DPAK
The NXP BUK624R5-30C,118 is an N-channel TrenchMOS™ power MOSFET from the Automotive, AEC-Q101 qualified series. The device comes in a DPAK (TO-252-3) surface-mount package with an exposed tab for thermal management, and operates over a -55°C to 175°C junction temperature range.
The 4.5 mOhm Rds(on) at 10 V gate drive is the headline figure for conduction loss calculations in a 12 V automotive load-switch or DC-DC converter. At 25 A load, that resistance drops about 2.8 W — well within the 158 W package dissipation capability, but the DPAK's thermal pad needs a good copper pour and via stitch to keep junction temperature under 175°C. The gate charge of 78 nC at 10 V means the driver must source about 0.5 A peak to switch in the tens of nanoseconds; a standard gate-driver IC with 2 A to 4 A peak output handles it cleanly.
