6 pF at 25 V — the tuning capacitance that sets your VCO centre frequency
The Nexperia BBY40,215 is a single VHF varactor (varicap) diode in a SOT-23 surface-mount package, designed for voltage-controlled tuning in RF oscillator and filter circuits. Its headline rating is 6 pF at a reverse voltage of 25 V, measured at 1 MHz — this is the capacitance the tank circuit sees when the control voltage is at its upper end. The capacitance ratio between 3 V and 25 V reverse bias is 6.5, which defines the usable tuning range for a VCO or a bandpass filter. A 30 V peak reverse voltage rating gives headroom above the 25 V bias point so the diode stays out of forward conduction during RF swings.
Active production, no LTB scramble — SOT-23 fits a field-swap kit
ROHS3 compliant, no exemption paperwork needed. The SOT-23 package uses a standard three-lead footprint. Operating temperature range is -55°C to 125°C.
Single diode, surface-mount — no second-source on record
This is a single varactor diode, not a dual or common-cathode pair. Surface-mount only — the TO-236-3 / SC-59 / SOT-23-3 case options all share the same SOT-23 footprint, so the PCB layout is unambiguous.
