What the Schmitt trigger inputs buy you
The 74HC132DB,112 is a quad 2-input NAND gate with Schmitt trigger action on all inputs. The hysteresis cleans up slow or noisy edges — a 0.3 V to 1.2 V low-level threshold and a 1.5 V to 4.2 V high-level threshold, with the gap between them rejecting ripple that would cause a standard gate to oscillate. Quiescent current maxes at 2 µA, so the gate adds negligible standby draw in battery-powered designs. Propagation delay is 21 ns typical at 6 V with a 50 pF load — fast enough for most control and debounce logic running below 10 MHz.
Temperature range and package fit
Housed in a 14-SSOP (0.209", 5.30 mm width) surface-mount package. The 1.27 mm pitch is layout-friendly — two-layer boards can fan out the pins without vias.
