1500W peak pulse — what that clamping chain means for the rail
The 1.5SMC7.5A clamps a transient in three steps: 6.4 V reverse standoff is the rail the TVS presents at idle — above it the device begins to conduct. At 7.13 V minimum the zener avalanche kicks in, which is the breakover threshold. The clamping ceiling at peak pulse current is 11.3 V — that is what the downstream load sees at 134.5 A of 10/1000 µs surge current.
The Tj rating of -55 °C to 150 °C places this in the industrial temperature band — it survives a soldering transient hot-spot on the die without derating in a non-ventilated enclosure, so long as the board-level thermal path keeps the junction below the 150 °C limit during a clamping event.
DO-214AB SMC package — what it demands of the board
Surface-mount DO-214AB (SMCJ supplier package) requires a land pattern sized to the cathode bar — the anode/cathode silkscreen marking is the only polarity indicator on the body. Tape-and-reel and cut-tape packaging are both available. General-purpose classification means no special screening flow — this is the standard commercial grade, not a hi-rel or automotive-screened variant.
