The clamping chain: what each voltage means for the protected node
53 V reverse standoff is the maximum voltage the TVS sees in normal operation without conducting — the protected rail should sit at or below this level continuously. The clamping voltage at 89.25 V is the decisive number for downstream IC withstand — any protected load must survive a brief 89.25 V spike at up to 17.9 A during the surge event. A single unidirectional channel means it handles one polarity only — for bipolar or AC-line protection a second device in the opposite direction is required.
