Unidirectional Zener TVS with a 408 V reverse standoff voltage and a minimum breakdown of 432 V — this sets the clamping threshold. The device starts conducting at the breakdown edge, protecting downstream circuitry from transients that exceed the normal rail voltage.
Supplied in DO-214AB (SMC) package, also designated SMCJ by some suppliers. The surface-mount footprint is shared across the 1.5SMC series — a single PCB pad layout serves the full voltage range from 5.0 V to 480 V standoff. Tape-and-reel packaging supports automated pick-and-place assembly. The 1500 W peak pulse capability in a DO-214AB body means the die-to-pad thermal path is sized for the surge energy — board copper area under the cathode tab affects the derating at elevated ambient temperatures.
