The 1.5SMC24: The 20.5V reverse standoff voltage means the protected rail can run at 20.5V DC without the diode conducting; the 34.86V clamp voltage is the maximum the diode lets through during a transient — downstream components must survive that peak. With a 45.8A peak pulse current rating (10/1000µs), the diode can absorb substantial surge energy from lightning or inductive load dumps. The unidirectional channel (single) protects one polarity rail; for AC or bidirectional lines, two back-to-back or a bidirectional variant is needed.
