Clamping parameters for surge protection fit
The 1.5SMC170C: The reverse standoff voltage is 145 V, meaning the protected line sees no leakage at normal operating voltage up to that level. Breakdown occurs at a minimum of 153.45 V, clamping at 245.7 V max while shunting 6.5 A peak pulse current — this clamping ceiling must stay below the downstream component's absolute maximum rating to avoid secondary failure.
Housed in a DO-214AB (SMC) surface-mount package, also designated as supplier device package DO-214AB (SMCJ). Operating temperature range is -55°C to 150°C junction, covering industrial and automotive under-hood ambient without derating.
Single-channel bidirectional protection
One bidirectional channel — a single device protects both polarities on a signal or power rail. No power line protection (the device is intended for data or secondary power bus clamping, not AC mains). The 1.5SMC series is a general-purpose TVS family; the 170C variant targets 145 V rails such as 120 VAC rectified buses or 144 V battery systems.
