1500 W bidirectional TVS in DO-214AB
The 1.5SMC13C: It clamps transients at 19.11 V maximum while conducting 83.5 A peak pulse current, and its 11.1 V reverse standoff voltage means it stays off the rail during normal 12 V bus operation.
Obsolete — sourcing through independent channels
Littelfuse has marked the 1.5SMC13C as Obsolete.
The minimum breakdown voltage is 11.75 V, so a 12 V nominal rail that sags to 11.5 V under load will not trigger the TVS into conduction — the part stays transparent until the transient pushes above that threshold. Maximum clamping at 19.11 V means downstream components rated for 20 V or higher survive the clamped surge. The 83.5 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs) is the current the TVS shunts during that event; the upstream fuse or PTC must open before the TVS exceeds its 1500 W rating.
