1500W peak pulse power in a DO-214AA SMB package
The Littelfuse 1.5SMB56A is a Zener-type TVS diode from the 1.5SMB series, rated for 1500W (1.5kW) peak pulse power at the standard 10/1000µs waveform. This power rating means it can clamp a 108.4A transient pulse (8/20µs waveform) down to 99.5V, protecting downstream telecom circuits from lightning-induced surges and inductive load dumps. The reverse standoff voltage is 47.8V, with a minimum breakdown of 53.2V — the protection window starts conducting at 53.2V and clamps hard at 99.5V. For a 48V telecom bus, this leaves enough margin above the nominal rail to avoid nuisance triggering during normal ripple, while still catching overvoltages before they reach the line card.
Temperature range and package fit
Operating junction temperature spans -65°C to 150°C, covering the full industrial and telecom outdoor enclosure range. The tape-and-reel packaging (TR) suits automated pick-and-place; cut-tape (CT) is available for prototype or low-volume builds.
