Active 1500W axial TVS for 6.4V rail protection
The 1.5KE7.5A-B: Its 6.4V reverse standoff voltage protects a 5V or 6V rail from transients, clamping at 11.3V maximum when the 134.5A peak pulse current flows. The 1500W rating means this part absorbs a single-pulse surge of that energy without failing — useful for suppressing inductive kicks or lightning-induced transients on a power bus. The 6.4V standoff sits below the 7.13V minimum breakdown, so the diode stays out of conduction during normal rail voltage and only clamps when the transient exceeds the threshold.
DO-201 package and rework consideration
Housed in the DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, the 1.5KE7.5A-B is a through-hole part that hand-solders or wave-solders without special profile concerns. The bulk packaging means it ships loose in a bag or tube — no reel, so it is a good fit for prototype runs or manual assembly where tape-and-reel is not required. No power line protection is built in — this is a pure transient suppressor for signal or low-voltage DC rails, not for AC mains clamping.
Sourcing and compliance
The part is a single unidirectional channel (one TVS die per package). For bidirectional clamping on the same rail, two of these can be placed back-to-back, or a single bidirectional 1.5KE series part selected instead.
