Clamping parameters and transient protection
The 1.5KE68: Reverse standoff voltage is 58.1 V; the device begins to break down at a minimum of 61.2 V and clamps the transient to a maximum of 96.6 V at a peak pulse current of 16.5 A. The 96.6 V clamping ceiling means a 48 V nominal bus or a 60 V DC rail with a 20 % tolerance stays below the clamp threshold during normal operation, but a surge that drives the line above 61.2 V is shunted before it reaches the protected circuit's absolute maximum.
Temperature range and package fit
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, through-hole mounted. The DO-201 footprint is larger than the smaller SMAJ/SMBJ surface-mount TVS, which means higher surge capability but a manual insertion step in assembly.
