Clamping voltage and peak current — what the ratings mean for the rail
At 5.8 V reverse standoff, the diode stays transparent on a 5 V rail (or a 5.8 V rail with margin). When the surge hits, it clamps at 10.5 V maximum — that is the voltage the downstream IC sees across its supply pins. The 143 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs) is the current the diode shunts during the clamping event. For a 24 V industrial bus with a 1500 W TVS, the actual surge current depends on the source impedance and the clamping voltage — the 143 A figure is the device's limit, not the operating current.
