Surge protection for DC rails
The 1.5KE6.8A-TB: With a reverse standoff of 5.8 V and a breakdown voltage of 6.45 V, it protects 5 V logic or bias rails from overvoltage events up to 10.5 V clamping at 144.8 A peak pulse current (10/1000 µs waveform).
What the ratings mean for your BOM
For repetitive transients, derate per the manufacturer's pulse derating curve; the 175 °C maximum junction temperature allows operation in high-ambient enclosures. The 5.8 V standoff voltage means the diode draws negligible leakage below that level, so it does not load a 5 V rail during normal operation. Clamping at 10.5 V ensures downstream components rated for 12 V or higher survive the event.
Package and board integration
Housed in a DO-201AA (DO-27) axial-lead package, the 1.5KE6.8A-TB is a through-hole device suited for point-to-point wiring or PCB mounting with 0.040-inch diameter leads. The Bulk packaging means it ships loose in a bag or tube — not tape-and-reel, so hand-placement or wave-solder assembly is straightforward.
