3.5 A fast-blow in a 0603 footprint
The Littelfuse 046703.5NR is a 3.5 A fast-blow SMD fuse from the 467 series, housed in a 0603 (1608 metric) package. Rated 32 V AC/DC with a 35 A interrupting capacity at that voltage, it clears overcurrent faults quickly on low-voltage board-level circuits — think secondary protection on a 24 VDC supply rail or a 12 V automotive line where a short could otherwise take out the trace or the load.
Breaking capacity and I²t coordination
The 35 A breaking capacity at 32 V means the fuse safely interrupts a fault current up to that level without rupturing the ceramic body — critical for safety agency compliance (UL and CSA listed per). Below that threshold the fuse element vaporises cleanly; above it the arc may not extinguish, so the available fault current of the supply must stay under 35 A. Melting I²t is 0.4306 — this is the energy required to open the fuse element. Designers use this figure to coordinate with downstream semiconductor surge ratings (e.g., a TVS diode or a MOSFET's I²t capability). The fast-blow response means it opens on sustained overcurrent rather than tolerating brief inrush — so it is a poor fit for motor-start or capacitive-load circuits unless the inrush energy stays below the I²t threshold.
Package and PCB integration
Surface-mount 0603 package (1.60 mm x 0.81 mm x 0.31 mm) — footprint compatible with standard reflow soldering profiles. The 0603 size suits dense PCB layouts where a larger 1206 or through-hole fuse would crowd the routing channel.
