Active 2.5 A fast-blow in 0603 — what the ratings mean for your BOM
The 046702.5NRHF: Breaking capacity is 35 A at rated voltage — the fuse safely interrupts a short-circuit fault up to that level without rupturing the 0603 ceramic body. That figure governs the downstream trace and PCB clearance design, not the 2.5 A continuous rating.
Melting I²t and cold resistance — coordination numbers
Melting I²t is 0.2066 A²s — this is the energy needed to open the fuse element. It determines selectivity with upstream breakers or fuses: a downstream fault must clear before the upstream device sees enough energy to trip. For a 2.5 A fast-blow at 32 V, 0.2066 A²s is low enough that a typical 10 A branch breaker stays closed during the fault. DC cold resistance is 0.021 ohms typical.
Approvals and temperature envelope
CSA and UL approved — the fuse is listed for use in North American and Canadian equipment without additional agency testing. Operating temperature range is -55°C to 90°C, covering industrial and automotive interior environments.
